Salad Dressings Recalled Because of Unlabeled Egg Yolk

Niki's Food Company is recalling several varieties of its salad dressings
because egg yolk contained in the products is not listed on the label.
People with allergies to egg yolk run the risk of serious or
life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the products, which are
distributed nationwide.

Clinical Trials Meeting Slated for Aug. 22 in Nashville

FDA will host a public meeting Aug. 22 to discuss protection of human
subjects in clinical trials.  Topics will include FDA's role, institutional
review boards, and minority participation in clinical trials.  The meeting
will be held at Meharry Medical School in Nashville, Tenn.

Special Web Page Has Information on New Narcolepsy Drug

FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research has created a Web page with
background on Xyrem, a drug approved July 17 to treat cataplexy (weak or
paralyzed muscles) in patients with narcolepsy, a condition that causes an
irresistable urge to fall asleep in unlikely situations.  The page answers
many questions about the drug such as how it will be distributed and what to
do with unused medication.

Alert Issued on 'Spokane Produce' Romaine Lettuce

FDA has warned consumers not to eat Spokane Produce brand romaine lettuce
because the product has been associated with an outbreak of E. coli 0157:H7,
which can lead to serious injury or death in some people.
