Is this ext3 or bad drive sectors problem?

Looks to me as if your harddisk is failing:

> "kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { Driveready SeekComplete Error }"
> "kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x40 { UncorrectableError },
LBAsect=4944861, sector=4736016"
> "kernel: end_request: I/O error. dev 03:02 (hda), sector 4736016"

I am resending this message again as after getting various suggestions, I
reinstalled RED Hat 7.2 LINUX after formatting with option "fix bad sector"
as well as installing boot into 1st available sector instead of MBR and
everything worked fine for 4-5 days and then again while installing qpopper,
I got the error message as

iat1 Kernel: Assertion failure in journal_bmap_R2ac88d7a() at journal.c:602:
"ret!=0"

System halted after above message. I rebooted my system but no success as
system conveyed message
"I9990301 Disk Failure or disk reset failed"

I then used Linux rescue disk and somehow able to get on # prompt and then I
used
fsck.ext2 -b 32768 /dev/hda5

I rebooted my system but no luck and got the error message / inconsistency

Entered into single user mode, ran fsck multiple times but same error
message.

SYSTEM details:
Red hat 7.2(2.4.7-10)
BIOS DATE: 5/17/00
Drive: /dev/hda(Geom: 2482/255/63) (mode: IBM-DLTA-307020)

FYI: My system has crashed 5-6 times and I always ended up in re-installing
Linux. Please Please Please suggest how to fix this issue...Is there any
patch I have to apply...

Any help would be appreciated...

 Hello LINUX GURUS,

I am fairly new to LINUX OS, so pardon my ignorance about LINUX OS.
I have installed LINUX 7.2 on IBM netfinity 4000R server. OS works fine for
few days and start giving me this error message all of a sudden:

"kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { Driveready SeekComplete Error }"
"kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=4944861,
sector=4736016"
"kernel: end_request: I/O error. dev 03:02 (hda), sector 4736016"

SYSTEM details:
Red hat 7.2(2.4.7-10)
BIOS DATE: 5/17/00
Drive: /dev/hda(Geom: 2482/255/63) (mode: IBM-DLTA-307020)

When I rebooted, system was not able to mount /
I tried running "fsck" as well as "e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/hda6" but same
results after reboot...

I will appreciate if someone could suggest me how to fix this issue. Please
explain in detail how to fix this issue...

SYSTEM is not in production so willing to install RED HAT from scratch if I
can fix this issue...
