The vast majority of these cases turn out to be hardware problems, either with bad memory or bad controllers or bad disks; or sometimes, bad drivers triggering borderline or out-of-spec hardware. Are there any other kernel messages in the log which might give us a clue as to what is happening here? What sort of disks are you using? --Stephen
