The only time I ever ran into a problem mounting with 'noatime' is with /var/spool/mail and Mutt (and possibly other MUAs). Another thing you can do is change syslog to not call fsync() after every log message by prepending a '-' to the log file name in syslog.conf. This is a reasonable thing to do for a laptop, but not a server. =20 Wil --=20 Wil Cooley wcooley@nakedape.cc Naked Ape Consulting http://nakedape.cc * * * * Linux, UNIX, Networking and Security Solutions * * * * QCSNet http://www.qcsn.com * * * * T1, Frame Relay, DSL, Dial-up, and Web Hosting * * * * --=-xok/H6gy6zdaH8LTW/lY Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQA9ZcDTJpn3uYWUEaoRAgx1AKCYRZlcExDkvCAA26C9TSpfFb9lcgCgiVJE hdTgejUK4ofdncKMz8vV7wc= =EfTC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-xok/H6gy6zdaH8LTW/lY--
