Hi

No problem. I think I mentioned that it wouldn't make sense to merge the DRM driver before ACPI and/or DT are ready. So we have time to get the driver into good shape.

Sigh,  :(

Then can we drop the support for SoC chips temporary,  and provide DT support at latter time?

Yes, of course DT can be provided later when it is ready. If you have something that is currently usable, you can submit it. But if your patch depends on other kernel features, those features should be ready first. And if your driver cannot be used at all without those features, there's no point in merging the driver until the feature is ready.

this patch is target to providing the generic part of device driver support for Loongson integrated graphics.

I see the double mention :(, but still want to make sure if it is negotiable. Because for the DC in our bridge chip,

this driver can be probed reliably. The code size of this patch and the technical description needed is actually

large enough for me to carry on.   If this is not negotiable, then it is ok to provide DT support at the next version of

this patch?  it(dt support patch) tend to incurring  more criticize. I'm scared and not want to face it.

As I said above, if the driver can already be used with the bridge chip, reduce it to the required code. The DT support can be submitted later on.

In fact, you should try to reduce your initial driver to the minimum size that is useable. Try to remove any feature or functionality that is not critical to get something on the screen. The initial driver submission is the hardest. Once the driver has been merged, it is much easier to add new features and get them merged quickly.

First-time submitters often think they have to provide a feature-complete driver. So they send huge patches that are hard to understand review. Those drivers then end up in an endless cycle of reviews.

It's better to start small and grow the driver over time.

Best regards
Thomas

We can leave the support for our SoC as internal, those SoC are really target for low end application.

keep them back is actually ok.

Best regards
Thomas

and prepare next version.
