I consider the S3 option just being hidden. You just need to know how to change that MSCE variable without changing the ACPI data. In general I'd say that s2idle is absolutely fine. s2idle just should be more energy efficient. S3 is using less than 1 % battery per hour. So if there's a way to get s2idle down to 2 % per hour that would be a good solution. Until linux-5.18-rc7 S3 is working very well.
