But essentially read/write don't mean actual read/write to memory, but only read/write access in terms of implicit sync. Buffers which do not partake in implicit sync (driver internal stuff) or access which is not implicitly synced (anything vk does) do _not_ need to set a write fence. They will (except amdgpu, until they fix their CS uapi) _only_ set a read fence.
