If I am not wrong, you already introduced a function to get the
hardware version and is stored in dsi->hw_version. Maybe you could you
use that variable and remove that code.

Is this an error that should be ignored? If you can't get the HW
version, probably, there is something wrong with your hardware so,
don't you need to return an error?
