Expose a render node, since only the first instance using the card
node gets auth.

A couple of years ago, I've proposed a way to have render-only
drivers, yet it got shot down. Don't recall was it Daniel V, Dave or
someone else.
If you fancy going that route, be my guest.

Keep in mind that is orthogonal to the goal here.
