It's fine to have one of the patches to stop the segfault applied. that's just a symptom of the root cause: [ 54.734549] amdgpu 0000:01:00.0: Refused to change power state, currently in D3 [ 54.810069] amdgpu 0000:01:00.0: Refused to change power state, currently in D3 For some reason the GPU doesn't power up correctly. There's not much the driver can do until we sort out why ACPI is not powering up the GPU correctly. As a workaround, you can disable runtime pm by appending amdgpu.runpm=0 on the kernel command line in grub.
