It's not done per default for security reasons... and a system (dm-
crypt) whose primary purpose is security, should probably not default
to weaker security, thus imposing that on most (unknowing) users
without any further notice.

If someone really needs/wants the high performance he either doesn't
need/want security,... or sooner or later find it's way to dm-crypt's
options to pass through TRIM.

Would be sad if Debian, for no reason, deviates from the sane upstream
defaults.
