Hi,
I am not sure which patches Debian backported into 2.6.18 stable,
this code was rewritten in later kernels significantly.

Is it reproducible on recent upstream kernel?

Anyway, first verify that this patch is backported to your kernel:

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your pointer, I really appreciate it. I've checked, and
this patch hasn't been backported on debian 2.6.18 kernel, but has been
in their "etchnhalf" 2.6.24 kernel. I just gave it a try. It seems to be working fine as in, it doesn't oops anymore, though I think I get rather bad writing performances, so I have to look that up now..

Regards,

Gilles
