LUKS header lost. Encryption key on USB thumbdrive

Mighty list, I require your help

Situation:
On Debian Etch, I have managed to destroy the LUKS header on /dev/sda3 (~500GB) by fooling around with LVM. I am currently running "hexdump -C /dev/sda | grep "4c 55 4b 53 ba be"" trying to find something header-like (in which I do not have high hopes).
I had used a key-file on my USB thumbdrive to open the LUKS partition and the key is still intact and available.

Question:
Since my key is still readily available can I recover/rebuild the LUKS header or somehow open /dev/sda3 without LUKS?

Your help is greatly appreciated,
Harald
