more information, of a curious nature.

if i interpret hd correctly, it looks as if exactly 0x81000 (528384 in decimal,
something like 129 * 4096) bytes were zeroed at the start of the partition.  
that's a suspiciously round number. maybe a dm-crypt or dm programmer knows its
significance.
