Yes, I stated up front that this should not cause any problems [1]. But
it's only half of the problem now. The commands executed by Uwe should
not have caused any problems. But still: now he cannot open the volume.

Let's wait for Uwe's comments. 

[1] I never trust or use volume managers, thus qualifying myself as a
"ignorant expert" on the subject. :-)
