They work a live example here:

The only two things that differed. 

1. You did not run luksClose before resizing the underlying volume. *I
don't think this should damage your data unless you have a
hardware/software bug.* So let's ignore that fact for now. =D

2. You must (much like in non LUKS way) run a luksOpen first - then
re-size. I did only see that you re-sized the volume directly without
during the luksClose first. If you run a isLuks or luksDump on your
volume - what does it say? Feel free to scramble your unique data.

Try resizing using correct ordering and if that does not work run the
commands (isLuks, luksDump) I suggested.
