Re: dm-crypt performance and dual-core cpu...

Hi,

using 512 MByte of (nearly) random data (taken from /dev/urandom) on a server
with four dual core AMD Opteron 875 processors, dd'ing to a non-encrypted
partition of the SCSI-hardware-RAID5 disks (with bs=50M) returns about 320
MB/s according to dd, and so does writing to or reading from encrypted parts
of the RAID5 disks (aes-cbc, keysize=256) with dm-crypt (many thanks to those
who have been so kind as to develop this fine tool!).

IMHO, the motherboard (Tyan S2882) plays its part in this result, and so does
the SCSI controller ...

Best wishes and regards,

Ernst
