Yes, that would be a lot easier since this are details which shouldn't
be implemented within the driver. Also it would be more robust since it
is handled in a central place.

Sure, for now I like that we finally get rid of the local
try-fmt/selection handling. This was also something the subdev driver
shouldn't care about.

Of course, zero based ^^

You're right, i've changed it to source_link_freq as you suggested. I
also dropped the complete sensor variables and used source instead.

This will end in the same, but as you prefer. I used the sync version
since the error handling will execute it anyways.
