The semantic of "optional" as it is used and implemented by devm_clk_get_optional (and gpiod_get_optional and devm_reset_control_get_optional) is different than yours when saying "on H6 the clock is not optional". If it was about the "it doesn't matter if it's taken care of or not" semantic you seem to mean the function would be useless and no driver would need to actually use it. In the sense of the functions listed above "optional" means: Some devices need it, others don't. Using this semantic the "bus" clock is optional. > It really isn't about DT validation.
