The core configuration is the only difference between mt8173 and mt8176. Like what arm/juno and marvell/armada-ap806 did, this change splits mt8173.dtsi into mt817x.dtsi and mt8173.dtsi. mt817x.dtsi defines the common blocks for mt8173 and mt8176. mt8173.dtsi and mt8176.dtsi describe mt8173 and mt8176 respectively.
