hello,
I found your reply to another person with a similar problem tonight
(Loop-aes problem or bug, 05.Sept.2005) and did, in the meantime,
the following:

Knoppix is 4.02 with loop-aes-module-2.6.12, V3.0d-1,
loop-aes-utils wanted to be 2.12p-5 but shows in the text that is
"based on 3.0c and util-linux 2.12p-4".

1.) boot: knoppix 2

2.) mkdir /mnt1
      mount -r -t ext2 /dev/hda1 /mnt1

3.) cat /mnt1/rootkey.gpg (it's really there + readable)

4.) mkdir /mnt2
      mount -t ext2 /dev/hda3 /mnt2 -o \ loop=/dev/loop0,encryption=AES256,gpgkey=/mnt1/rootkey.gpg

PW:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
message under x: wrong fs type .....the usual crap.................

I checked with losetup -a that the loop0 isn't used but no loop was used at all.
I repeated 4.) in case of mistyping with same result.

Knoppix is using the 4 GB temp-partition I normally use.
Is it possible that, because of unencrypted Knoppix-temp, gpg is not working ?
I have no more ideas so far and make a break.

         Regards, Reverend
