The evils of SuSE 10.1

Hello!

Configuring current SuSE 10.1 64-bit kernel for root encryption shows up severe obstacles. As you know, loop-aes requires to boot with its own initrd, so all kind of fancy hardware modules for chipset and such have to be "on-board". In my case this includes a VIA Chipset and some SCSI based SATA modules.
The point is, when I try to built in the kernel sections
<*> ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support
<*> Enhanced IDE/MFM/RLL disk/cdrom/tape/floppy support
and the SCSI part
<*> SCSI device support
<*> Serial ATA (SATA) support
the kernel fails to compile. Both parts alone work to be integrated into the kernel but not both together. Normally this should work because there is no reason why ATA and SCSI support should not be included in the kernel itself. Any ideas?

"make bzImage" pukes out the following:

*** End of Linux kernel configuration.
*** Execute 'make' to build the kernel or try 'make help'.

blue:/usr/src/linux # make bzImage
  CHK /usr/src/linux-2.6.16.13-4/include/linux/version.h
  SPLIT   include/linux/autoconf.h -> include/config/*
  CC arch/x86_64/kernel/asm-offsets.s
  GEN include/asm-x86_64/asm-offsets.h

make: *** [drivers] Error 2

In case this is a SuSE mistake and there will be no updates available, Debian is on drive by the end of this week. SuSE also missed to include ralink drivers for my Wlan Stick. Obviously the try to put stones in my ways.

Regards,
Peter
