Hi, I am using kernel 2.4.21 with the corresponding crypto-patches (patch-int-2.4.21.0.bz2) and loop-patch (loop-jari-2.4.21.0.patch). When writing a large amount of data to an encrypted folder residing in a single file, the complete system crashes. I am doing the following: # dd if=/dev/urandom of=~/.crypto bs=1024 count=2048 # losetup -e aes -k 256 /dev/loop0 ~/.crypto # mke2fs /dev/loop0 # mount /dev/loop0 ~/crypto # cp -a ~/unencrypted_folder ~/crypto After a few minutes of copying data there is no more harddisk activity but the last cp command does not complete. Any services on the machine (sshd, httpd, ftpd) are no longer reachable. It is possible to type the user name after the login prompt at the local console, but pressing enter then does not give the prompt for the password. The kernel is still routing ip packets though. I eventually have to press the reset button. Any clues? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
