Is your SMP kernel .config exactly same as your previous UP kernel .config
(excluding UP -> SMP change)? Your kernel config appears a little strange
since it does not have floppy support enabled at all.

Posting your /etc/fstab line and your kernel .config might help. I suggest
that you check your kernel .config for missing bits and recompile your
kernel and loop-AES module. At least add support for block-major-2 "Floppy
disks" and char-major-97 "Parallel port generic ATAPI interface".
