1. Debian's util-linux comes with support for cryptoapi right out of the box
2. In case you're using make-kpkg to compile your kernel you'd like to have
a look at http://mail.nl.linux.org/linux-crypto/2002-07/msg00004.html
Adding kernel-patch-xfs should be trivial and release you from patching the
kernel manually.
