OK, I tried this and didn't see the problem. (On the second command the screen
changed to a text console, and the hard disc powered down; the machine came
back when I touched the touchpad.) No interrupts are increasing rapidly
(however, I don't see that even with the problem); wakeups is around 200--300
(as it should be, not the 40,000), and the processor seems to be mostly in C3.
