OSD A on host A goes down. OSD B on host B takes a write (because
min_size=1). OSD B dies. OSD A comes back online and misses data -> data
loss. The chance that this happens with 3 OSDs and min_size=2 is much
smaller.
If you value your data, you do not want to set size=2 min_size=1. It
will save you some money ... until it doesn't. make sure you have
backups and a working restore procedure (and that is also true for
size=3, min_size=2).
