CephFS is only recording the numeric user ID and group ID in the directory entry. It is up to the client to map that onto user name and group name. What you use for consistent mappings between your CephFS clients is up to you. It could be NIS, libnss-ldap, winbind (Active Directory) or any other method that keeps the passwd and group files in sync.
