Can you add "debug = true" to your "iscsi-gateway.cfg" and restart the
rbd-target-api on osd03 to see if that provides additional details of
the failure? Also, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you
could temporarily apply this patch [1] to "/usr/bin/rbd-target-api" to
see if it can catch some uncaught exception.
