Hello,

I am installing a Ceph Cluster as File Server with Jewel under Centos 7.
At this Moment it is not in Produktion. I installed Jewel, because i
need the cephfs Option.
I tried to install Jewel in a Debian Wheezy Server. This doesn't happen
so i have 3 Questions:

Is it important to have on the Client Side an the Server Side the same
Ceph Version? I ask because i can use in NFS and SMB Environments
different Versions of CLient and Server.

What your choice to export the Files from a Cephfs Server with a File
Server? On Client Side i have Debian Wheezy and Centos 6. So I think it
is the best way to export the Files not with ceph because of too old
Packages, but with SMB or NFS.

I tried install on Centos 7 a Kernel NFS Server, but i have Performace
Lacks. Afeter this I searched in the Internet and found 2 possible Ways:

Install SAMBA 4.1 and try vfs Module ceph, or install ganesha nfs.

Thanks for help

Hauke
