Subject: [ceph-users] CACHEMODE_READFORWARD doesn't try proxy write?

Hi,

I’m just looking through

http://xo4t.mj.am/link/xo4t/q9huhtz/1/4rVziiaGv2W3GR2w1KXhAQ/aHR0cDovL3hvNHQubWouYW0vbGluay94bzR0L3E5aDQ0d3EvMS9ndzIzYmtIUENUYXpBb0k2b1JMX25nL2FIUjBjSE02THk5bmFYUm9kV0l1WTI5dEwyTmxjR2d2WTJWd2FDOWliRzlpTDJWbU1tWmxZemM0TkRRd1lUVXlNamN5TW1Ga01EQXpaakF6T1RsaVkyWmxZekk0TURnME1UWXZjM0pqTDI5elpDOVNaWEJzYVdOaGRHVmtVRWN1WTJN#L2192

And from what I can see if you set the cachemode to CACHEMODE_READFORWARD, proxy writes will not be used. Am I reading the code correct and is that the desired behaviour? I would have thought you would still expect proxy writes to occur but just disable the promotion of reads? I believe this is also the case for CACHEMODE_READPROXY.

Thanks,

Nick
