os-prober breaks ceph cluster on osd write assert failure

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

We're running a debian jessie ceph 0.80.6 cluster and this morning
package update launched os-prober which killed instantly 5 of our 15 OSD
on write assert failures:

http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/9860

While the fault is probably on os-prober doing something writing/locking
instead of being purely read-only I wonder if we're alone in hitting
this issue.

If not I think people running ceph clusters should be made aware of this
by documentation and may be an install check of os-prober presence plus
warning as the impact on production of just running "os-prober" is
really nasty.

Sincerely,

Laurent
