I missed what the motivation is/was for this proposal? I.e. what is wrong with the current state? Just that there are EOLed releases in the list?
(There is a script that creates backport tracker issues automatically, so you guys don't have to create them manually. You can just backport, without the backport tracker - ping me in the backport PR and I'll make sure the backport is tracked.)
