You could try a remote anaconda upgrade using vnc. Something like this; http://www.karan.org/blog/index.php/2005/06/15/upgrading_to_centos4_over_a_remote_vnc_c but with adjustments. You would still need to look for orphans, and the usual things.Maybe if you backed up configs and data files and removed as many packages as you could to minimize the hassle. Even though RHEL5 is based on Fedora 6, I think the package freeze was about mid-cycle, and Fedora kept evolving after the freeze.
