Sure we can avoid that firmware, but what if a later firmware fixes some bug

If their product ceases to meet my needs, I'll cease specifying it for my server farms and cease recommending it here and on other forums. I suspect the decision to (a) release something that fixed a bug at the expense of the most widely used Linux filesystem and then (b) to explicitly steer people towards using an unsupported filesystem (at least by RedHat) instead of just fixing the problem will either be reversed or enjoy an appropriate response from the marketplace.
