Short of showing you the ports lists microsoft uses for filesharing, I
don't have any doco on this. It was passed down to me a while back,
and I have no authentic documentation about it. It could be wrong, and
if it is, I'll happily take correction.

Starting with windows 2000, windows tries port 445 first and falls back to 138/139 for backwards compatibility. I'm not sure when samba changed to match.
