The 2950 works perfectly with Centos-4.4 (I've only ever used x86_64 though). 
The addon intel NIC might need the 4.4 kernel but the basic 2950 even works 
with 4.3.

As for chipset Dell uses the workstation flavour (5000X), here's some 
lspci -tv output:
