[CentOS] How do I enable tun interface in Centos4.0

hey,

 I got it from the following repository.

http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/2188162/com/tun-1.1-8.centos4.i386.rpm.html

But I can't see tun0 interface when I do "ifconfig". Is tun module is disable in  Centos4.0
the kernel version is 2.6.9-34.0.1.EL ?

How do I enable the tun interface in Centos4.0 means kernel compiling or there is anyother kernelmodule for tun?
