The only thing I use it for really is to alert me as to when drives run amuck. It can also be somewhat useful for rebuilding a degraded array, however, I believe this should be done using the actual BIOS. Remember, this also means downtime, however.

Why?

What is wrong with doing that online?

3ware provided both the 3dmd daemon to do it via http or we could use the CLI. They would not provide this tools if things should be done via the bios...unless you know something I do not.

So please tell us why should rebuilding be done only through the BIOS?
