That's that same thing that happens to me. If I wait until it times 
out.. the 5 minutes or whatever you have your time out set to, it will 
disconnect. But, it almost never returns the directory listing... but is 
just connected. Some FTP clients will try non-passive after a period of 
time, others you have to set.
