If the Springdale release is a 100% RH clone, why do different teams (Alma and Rocky) are trying to re-package the same 100% binary-compatible RH clone?

Simply because each one of these projects obviously wants to remain independent from the others, otherwise it would request to join forces with one of them.

Why they want to remain independent? Due to their vision and internal structure. Check each project's details.

Each project's future will be judged by team responsiveness, prompt release availability, product reliability and eventually user adoption.

All that, in turn, are very much dependent on community involvement and project management & financing.

Cheers,
Nick
