Moving the VT management into userspace.  Having it in-kernel makes it 
1.) difficult to program for (and hasn't been updated much since the 90s) 
2.) insecure and 
3.) better support multi-seat environments 

amongst other reasons.  BTW, this is all code by someone other than LP, so add Mr. Herrmann to your conspiracy files.
