Everybody is probing everything. :)

Moving the directory name might break software updates (if installed 
via yum)!

EPEL phpMyAdmin comes with a config file in /etc/httpd/conf.d, you can 
allow/deny stuff there.
Also enabling HTTP auth in phpMyAdmin might help, too if you use strong 
passwords.
