[Centos] File appearance delay on desktop in GNOME (CentOS 4)

I've seen the same thing under both FC3 and CentOS 4.
I traditionally just 'reload' via nautilus (as you've mentioned) but
find it frustrating.

Hopefully someone can shed some light.
