This is because RHEL4 is based on work done in FC2/FC3.  For most 
packages, it will be always easy to grab SRPM from FC and recompile (I 
was doing it for RH 7.3 when its life cycle ended).  However, year or 
two down the road, there will be more and more packages that would need 
manual tweaking of spec files to recompile.  Been there, done that.
