Three veterinary practitioners had evidence of recent infection with avian influenza A(H5) virus, including two who reported no exposures to animals with known or suspected A(H5) infections and one who practiced in two U.S. states with no known avian influenza A(H5) virus-infected cattle at this time (Georgia and South Carolina).
San Mateo County (California) Health identified a clade I monkeypox virus infection (NVO positive, clade II negative) in a U.S. traveler returning from East Africa. This is the first reported case of clade I mpox in the United States.
