VIS Code Update Details
- Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) URL Conversion Effective January 17, 2025
30 VIS current edition records have been updated with new URLs, thus completing the URL conversions for all but one record (*).
VIS codes are created and included in the vaccine code sets to enable provider systems to implement VIS 2D barcode scanning, and to help automate capture of the specific VIS document edition given to the recipient or caregiver. The URLs included in the vaccine code sets are provided to point to the site of the current VIS edition document.
All URLs (*) to current VIS document pages have already been changed as part of the new CDC.gov website implementation. However, to allow sufficient time for end users to update their systems, the vaccine code sets provided for a transition period. That transition period has now ended.
- Effective January 17, 2025, the old URLs will no longer redirect. The remaining active VIS edition records in the vaccine code sets have been converted to utilize the new URLs. The vaccine code sets have been updated to only include the new URLs.
(*) URLs for vaccine code set record “RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) preventative antibody IIS” representing the Immunization Information Statement to be provided for Beyfortus® (nirsevimab) will be converted to the new URLs at a later date (TBD).
The new vaccine code set VIS URLs can be found at VIS to URL Table | Immunization Information Systems (IIS) | CDC
- One CVX to VIS Code Map Removed
A CVX to VIS map has been corrected to remove mapping from a retired CVX code to an active VIS document edition. The following CVX to VIS map has been removed: CVX code 41 "typhoid, parenteral" is no longer associated to VIS Document Name “Typhoid VIS" code "253088698300023311191030" for the current edition.
