CDC Confirms Avian Influenza A(H5) “Bird Flu” in Missouri

CDC confirmed a human case of avian influenza A(H5) ("H5 bird flu") reported by the state of Missouri. This is the 14th human case of H5 reported in the United States during 2024. The investigation is ongoing but so far there is no known occupational exposure to sick or infected animals, which would be a first such case in the United States. CDC's current assessment is that the risk to the general public from H5 bird flu remains low.
