Vaccine Code Set Updates – Summary
This release includes the following code set updates - COVID-19 Vaccine Code Set Updates
On August 22, 2024 the FDA authorized new Fall 2024 season COVID-19 mRNA vaccines for the Omicron variant KP.2 strain of SARS-CoV-2.
BLA Licensure Approved Products: - Moderna SPIKEVAX (COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula) for ages 12 and older
- Pfizer COMIRNATY (COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula) for ages 12 and older
Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) Products: - Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 6 months through 4 years
- Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 5 years through 11 years
- Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 6 months through 11 years
On August 30, 2024, the FDA authorized another new Fall 2024 COVID-19 vaccine under EUA for the Omicron variant JP.1 strain of SARS-CoV-2. - Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 12 years and older
The vaccine code set files and crosswalks have been updated to include all of the above new vaccines. New EUA Recipient/Caregiver Fact Sheet document identifiers and URLs have been added to the VIS tables. All records associated to the 2023/2024 COVID-19 vaccines have been retired.
The Fall 2024 COVID-19 Vaccine Codes and Crosswalks table has been updated with a summary that includes the CVX, NDC, MVX and CPT codes and descriptions for the newly approved and authorized vaccines. This table can be found at Fall Season Respiratory Vaccine Codes | Immunization Information Systems (IIS) | CDC. - 2024/2025 Influenza Vaccine Code Set Updates
This release includes the addition of the 2024/2025 seasonal influenza trivalent intranasal vaccine FluMist. The vaccine codes and crosswalks reflect this addition. All 2023/2024 influenza season vaccines have been retired.
- Other Code Updates
The current VIS “Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV13_PCV15_PCV20)” should be provided to recipients of the new PCV 21 Vaccine, CAPVAXIVE, until a new VIS is available. Accordingly, CVX code 327 “Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, 21 valent (PCV21), polysaccharide CRM197 conjugate, preservative free” has been associated to the above VIS in the CVX to VIS code table.

COVID-19 Vaccine Code Set Updates - New Fall 2024 COVID-19 Vaccine Codes: The following table provides the new 2024/2025 Fall COVID-19 vaccine codes and crosswalks. The CVX and CPT codes and descriptions remain the same as for the 2023/2024 season. The note field in the CVX codes have been slightly updated. If the manufacturer name is included in the tradename, the vaccine product is provided under EUA. Other tradenames are for vaccine products provided under BLA licensure. The vaccine code table and crosswalks reflect these code updates.

- A new document barcode string record has been added for each new EUA Recipient/Caregiver Fact Sheet. The associated GDTI has not changed. The barcode string does not have the exact edition date. (VIS Barcode Lookup file)
- The CDC URLs for these new documents have been updated to new URLs assigned to this GDTI for the current edition. (VIS URL file)
- The CVX codes shown have been associated to the new documents. (CVX to VIS file)
- Status of the prior document editions for these Fact Sheets have been set to “historic”.

Note that the NDC labeler, Medimmune, is a subsidiary of AstraZeneca as indicated in the MVX code description below.
