The Minnesota Department of Health identified six cases of trichinellosis among eight family members who had eaten a meal that included meat from a black bear that was inadvertently served rare.
Among 32,819 probable or confirmed U.S. mpox cases reported to CDC during May 2022–May 2024, 75% occurred in people who were unvaccinated, and less than 1% occurred in people who were fully vaccinated (2 doses).
Following the peak of the 2022 mpox outbreak (more than 3,000 cases per week), cases declined sharply and remain lower (approximately 59 reported cases per week from October 1, 2023–April 30, 2024).
